Where the parents of a child are married, they will automatically both have Parental Responsibility. If the parents were not married the father of a child born before 1st December 2003, or a child born on or after that date, who did not attend with the mother to register the birth, will not have Parental Responsibility for the child automatically. We can help you by preparing a Parental Responsibility Agreement or making an application to the court for a Parental Responsibility Order.
If there is a dispute between you and the child’s other parent regarding which parent the child should live with, and/or the arrangements for the child’s contact with the other parent, we can assist you to make an appropriate application to the court. We can also assist you with other applications to the court concerning children, such as applications for the court’s permission to change the child’s name or to take the child abroad.
