Our Charity of the Year for 2024/25 – The Marillac Neurological Care Centre
Mullis & Peake staff have voted to support The Marillac Neurological Care Centre as our Charity of the Year for 2024-2025.
Paul Dixon, CEO of the Marillac Neurological Care Centre, said:
“We are delighted that Mullis & Peake have chosen the Marillac Neurological Care Centre as their Charity of the Year 2024/25. We are incredibly excited for this partnership, which will support individuals facing profound or complex disability following traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, or progressive neurological conditions.”
The Marillac Neurological Care Centre provides long-term care and specialist rehabilitation for people with complex or profound disability following traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury or progressive neurological conditions. Their 52 residents are adapting to an uncertain future, relearning what they can achieve and resetting their life goals.
Sadly, every 90 seconds someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with a brain injury (a result of strokes, falls, traffic accidents, assaults, tumours, or infections). It only takes a few seconds for a life to be completely knocked off course. Brain injuries can have devastating, life-long effects on anyone.
The centre, based in Brentwood, provides holistic care that encompasses medical, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech & language therapy, plus nutritional, psychological, recreational, and pastoral care.
Their therapeutic offering aims to enhance quality of life, promote independence and ultimately ensure a safe transition back into the community. The activities programme is designed to contribute to resident sense of choice, wellbeing, and fulfilment.
