YouGov have recently completed some research which indicates that 75% of sellers and 76% of buyers choose a traditional law firm when seeking helping with conveyancing which is good news for our award winning Residential Property team at Mullis & Peake LLP.
The report was commissioned to examine, in detail, the experience of consumers who are selling property, buying property or both. The report drilled down to look at the relationship between the industry stakeholders and interaction with clients. The recent report also confirmed that 71% of house buyers rated the service provided by their conveyancer as either ‘good’ or ‘excellent’. This is a good result though clearly there is room for improvement!
The research revealed that 48% of consumers thought that the process would take as long as it did, with 44% disappointed that it took longer and only 6% thinking it would take longer!
YouGov’s research also highlighted the top concerns of sellers and buyers throughout the conveyancing process. The greatest concern for buyers was the survey revealing a serious structural problem at their chosen property, with more than half (54%) saying they were ‘very concerned’ or ‘concerned’ about it. Furthermore, 43% of buyers also had anxieties about three other issues – the seller deciding not to sell; gazumping; and local authority or environmental searches revealing a serious problem.
