A report published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) revealed that 51 trades people died at work in 2023-2024. This is a 70% increase compared to pre-pandemic figures. In addition, some 470,000 people suffered non-fatal injuries on building sites in the past three years.

Falls from height remain the leading cause of these fatalities, accounting for 50 out of 138 deaths across all industries in the same period.

This data emphasises a need for greater safety measures in the construction industry.

Despite rigorous health and safety regulations, the high-risk nature of construction work means accidents can have devastating consequences. These tragic incidents often leave families grappling with both emotional loss and financial uncertainty.

In such circumstances, it is sensible to seek the expertise of a specialist solicitor.
