The HSE reported that in 2022/23 154 workers died in work related incidents, the industry with the highest death rates were the construction industry followed by agriculture.

Workplace injuries can include but are not limited to;

  • Slips and trips
  • Falls from height
  • Being hit by falling objects
  • Crashes and collisions
  • Exposure to harmful substances
  • Overexertion
  • Repetitive Strain injuries

Workers should not be subject to unnecessary risk whilst they are at their workplace, accidents at work can occur in many places and will include places you are visiting as part of your employment.

Employers are legally obliged to ensure that you are safe in the workplace, this will include them providing appropriate training, maintaining equipment and providing suitable PPE. If your employers fall short of these standards, they may be liable if you get injured.

If you suffer an injury as a result of your employers or a colleagues negligence it is within your rights to seek compensation.
