Employment Advice

Employment disputes are one of the key areas of concern for our personal clients, and with the many different pieces of legislation covering employment issues, it can be a particularly challenging area.

The team at Mullis & Peake have many years experience and extensive expertise in dealing with employment matters. We can provide you with advice and guidance on a whole range of issues, including disciplinary and grievance procedures, discrimination advice, and settlement agreements. We can also represent you at an employment tribunal.

Common enquiries dealt with by the team include questions over what clients need to do to comply with grievance and disciplinary procedures, the time limits relating to complaints and tribunal proceedings, and the likely value of any possible claim, so that clients can decide whether it is worth pursuing.

Costs

Resolving disputes and litigation matters through the Courts and Tribunals can sometimes be time consuming and expensive.  Since each case is individual to the person concerned, we need to take detailed instructions about a case before we can give a tailored estimate on costs.

However, we recognise that costs are an important consideration when seeking legal advice and that clients find it helpful to have an initial idea when helping them to consider whether to get expert assistance, which is why we aim to give clients as much information as possible.

As a guide, based on the average unfair dismissal or wrongful dismissal claim that we deal with which leads to a final conclusion at a trial lasting 1 day, the costs are likely to be between £5,000-£8,000 plus VAT.  This includes the cost of a barrister to assist with the case (for example conducting the final trial).
