Ian joined the Court of Protection Department at Mullis & Peake in March 2024.

Prior to joining Mullis & Peake, Ian has worked in various departments in two Local Authorities since 1985. Since the implementation of the Mental Capacity Act in 2007, he had managed a team responsible for Court of Protection Deputyship and Public Authority Funerals.

Ian has a degree in Psychology and attended Froebel College, University of London.

 Hailing from Sunderland, he recommends a visit for the sandy beach and the scenery of Northumberland and Weardale.

Outside of work

Ian enjoys spending time with his family, especially with his two young grandchildren and three grand-dogs. He enjoys spending time with his church and is interested in Biblical history and archaeology.

Ian also enjoys cooking, with specialties of corned beef pie and bread.

Court of Protection
The team at Mullis & Peake also have extensive experience of obtaining deputyship orders and Court of Protection procedures. We are regional specialists in the Court of Protection field. The role of the Court of Protection is to appoint (or replace) a Deputy or Deputies acting for someone who cannot manage their affairs due to mental incapacity, and who has not previously made an Enduring Power of Attorney or Lasting Power of Attorney.
