Movers & Shakers
Congratulations and Promotions – November 23
Mullis & Peake LLP Solicitors are delighted to report that two of our colleagues have been promoted.
From the Commercial Property department, Sophie Williamson and Shelley Fitzpatrick are promoted to Senior Associate Solicitors.
Shelley Fitzpatrick is a key part of the Commercial Property Department as she practices exclusively in the area of leasehold extension and enfranchisement work. She is an expert in her field whereas most other solicitors merely dabble in this area of practice.
Shelley is a member of ALEP (the Association of Leasehold Extension Practitioners) and regularly attends their seminars, courses and social events ensuring that she is kept up to date with any changes in the law as well as recent cases. This is an area of law where there is much consultation about law reform (including the recent announcement from the Government) and Shelley is extremely mindful of this. She regularly writes blogs for the website to ensure that clients and prospective clients are always kept up to date.
Many of the local surveyors refer work to Shelley and enjoy working with her as she is knowledgeable, pragmatic and a safe pair of hands. The good relationships she builds also help to reach settlements on matters and with lease negotiations. As such, her client base is wide and varied and she has garnered years of experience dealing with properties and landlords in the local area. This results in Shelley being able to give the best possible advice and assistance possible to clients at all times.
With the continuing threat to changes to the law in this area and the specialised nature of the work we are lucky to have Shelley and value her advice and assistance and commitment to the practice. She is an excellent solicitor and ambassador for the firm.
Sophie completed her training contact and qualified as a commercial property solicitor with Mullis & Peake LLP on 3 September 2018 and has been a valued member of the commercial property team ever since.
Sophie has spent her time in the commercial team working with Peter Connell, former Chairman of Mullis & Peake LLP, in order to familiarise herself with his files and clients and to enable both the smooth reduction of his hours and ultimate retirement as well as the development of Sophie’s commercial career.
As a result; Sophie has taken over a substantial workload of sometimes complicated work.
Sophie’s pleasant and calm nature but steely resolve means she has not only maintained client relationships but developed them. She has also introduced new clients to the firm as a result of recommendations and networking activities.
Her work includes managing the extensive portfolios of properties for multiple large landlord clients including the renewal of leases, grant of licences and general commercial property advice.
In the Legal 500 2024, a client said: “We are 100% comfortable with Sophie Williamson’s competence and confident, she is always very pleasant to deal with but also firm in her advice.”
Martyn Trenerry, Chairman at Mullis & Peake LLP Solicitors, said:
“Both Sophie and Shelley show excellent client care, extensive experience and go above and beyond for their clients. I am sure you will join me in congratulating each of them on their success.”
