Kids in Need
Based in Romford, Kids in Need is a charity founded in 1982 by a group of like-minded friends who wanted to help children. Kids in Need sought and gained charitable status is 1994 and since its creation 40 years ago, has granted thousands of wishes for children with multiple and terminal illnesses/disabilities. All the members are volunteers, and they have no offices or major overheads, meaning that almost every penny raised goes to help the children who ask for wishes. The charity has a general committee of 15 volunteers who carry out the day-to-day work of granting the “wishes” and a group of four Trustees who support the charity and help them in achieving our core aims.
In order to fund these wishes the committee, who are all volunteers and receive no remuneration, organise fund raising events throughout the year. Kids in Need have organised a variety of events over the years, ranging from quiz nights, barn dances, casino evenings, golf days and even their own version of the antiques road show. Every year their event calendar culminates in a black-tie charity ball where they host 200-300 guests for an evening of food, dance, entertainment and fund raising.
The ball this year marks the events 41st anniversary and will be held at the Manor of Groves Hotel in Hertfordshire, on Saturday 18th November. Attendees can expect an evening of excellent food, live music, raffle, and a free bar.
